Beachbody Insanity Program

Beachbody Insanity is an exercise program by American fitness guru Shaun T (T apparently for transformation). The Insanity program relies on max interval training in order to whip you in shape. It is a 9 week program with 2 main 4 week phases and a recovery week in the middle. It is an advanced program and really not for the faint of heart. Make no mistake - this program will literally knock you out.

The Beachbody Insanity program has been been described as the hardest workout ever put on DVD. At least by the Beachbody team. This 60 day program is led by Shaun T and is designed to really push your limits. With workouts 6 days a week ranging from 45-75 minutes, this is certainly no walk in the park. These guys mean business.

Beachbody Insanity Promise

Insanity promises a full year workout within the 9 weeks. It is also often described as a program that will melt the fat off your body. I made the decision to get in shape after a summer in Europe with a few too many 1 liter beers. As I am the type of person who can either no go or go 100 mph, but not just a steady average speed, Insanity seemed a good choice. It fits with my mentality of go big or go home.

Beachbody Insanity Structure

The program is spread over 2 phases which has different videos attached to them. In the first phase which last 4 weeks, you get the "easier" videos. Make no mistake, there is nothing easy about them. However, after 1 week of recovery, the true madness comes in the last 4 weeks as the program continues to push you. During this program, Shaun T will continously motivate you to don't stop, dig deeper andhow  keep going as he pushes you through your body transformation.

As I work all day, I decided that early morning would be my training time. 6.30 am before breakfast. That would allow me to get the exercise done and eat afterwards, before it is off to the office. I further decided that Saturday would be my day off. That way, I would be able to get a bit of rest on the weekend and enjoy my Friday nights. The plan was clear! The before / after photos also look great but how well does the program really work? I will give it a shot and find out!
